Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving patients with cardiac, pulmonary, GI, infectious, pain, and unmanaged diabetes diagnoses
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement — mandatory competency required for all RNs in this role
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate
• Manage peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management (nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks), and isolation precautions
• Operate specialized equipment including bladder scanners, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, and lifepacks
• Float within scope to like units as needed (e.g., ED boarders, stable ICU, med-surg, stable acute brain injury)

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
• Must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be accepted
• Requested time off may not exceed 1 week for the duration of the contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management in an acute care setting
• Familiarity with PCTs in a team-based care model (PCTs on unit handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs)
• Experience with block scheduling (accommodation will be attempted but cannot be assured)
