The Role\n

The Senior IT Engineer is a force multiplier on our technical team.

\n

This is not a position where you sit in one queue doing the same work every day. Our Senior Engineers rotate through every layer of our service delivery model on a 30-day Tour of Duty cycle - front-line support, scheduled technical work, and project delivery.

\n

You will know which lane you are in, what you own, and what success looks like - but you will also understand how every part of our service model fits together.

What You Will Do\n

• Rotate through our service delivery tiers on a 30-day Tour of Duty cycle, staying connected to the complete client experience

\n

• Own escalations from IT Engineers with accountability through resolution

\n

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple client environments

\n

• Monitor and remediate device and infrastructure alerts proactively - our clients should not have to call us about problems we should have caught first

\n

• Own complex scheduled technical work from planning through completion

\n

• Participate in and lead technical project delivery, including scoping, planning, implementation, documentation, and handoff

\n

• Mentor and coach other IT Engineers - explaining your reasoning, not simply providing the answer

\n

• Manage Windows Server, virtualization, networking, and hybrid infrastructure environments

\n

• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, and hybrid identity environments

\n

• Work with firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, wireless, and other network technologies

\n

• Support modern cybersecurity platforms and security-focused configurations

\n

• Identify recurring problems and help eliminate root causes instead of repeatedly treating symptoms

\n

• Document configurations, decisions, root causes, resolutions, and next steps with precision

\n

• Leave every client environment better than you found it

What You Bring\n

We are looking for someone who is already a strong engineer and wants to become even better.

\n

You should bring:

\n

• 3+ years of IT engineering, systems administration, or equivalent hands-on technical experience, preferably within an MSP or multi-client environment

\n

• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and modern Microsoft environments

\n

• Strong networking fundamentals, including switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, and DHCP

\n

• Experience troubleshooting issues that do not have an obvious answer

\n

• Experience managing scheduled technical work and projects - not just reacting to tickets

\n

• The ability to take ownership of a problem and see it through to resolution

\n

• Strong documentation discipline - you leave environments better documented than you found them

\n

• The ability to explain complex technical issues in plain language to clients and coworkers

\n

• A mentorship mindset - you build the people around you, not just the systems around them

\n

• Strong communication skills and professional judgment

\n

• The ability to work in person from our Ankeny, Iowa office and travel to client locations when needed

\n

Technical ability can get someone a long way in IT. At Tier 3, ownership, communication, judgment, and attention to detail are what turn a good engineer into a great one.

Nice to Have\n

You do not need to check every box, but experience in these areas will help:

\n

• CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications such as MS-900, AZ-900, or MD-102

\n

• NinjaOne RMM, HaloPSA, or similar MSP platforms

\n

• VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies

\n

• Backup and disaster recovery platforms

\n

• WatchGuard or comparable firewall administration

\n

• CrowdStrike, Huntress, or enterprise EDR/XDR platforms

\n

• Microsoft 365 security and Conditional Access

\n

• Azure and hybrid Microsoft environments

\n

• Experience working within mature MSP processes and service delivery standards
