Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Dearborn, MI

Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy professional is needed to fill a 26-week contract position with potential for permanent placement in a long-term care and mail order setting. This role offers a dynamic work schedule with day and evening shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including rotating weekends.

Monday to Friday
Rotating shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM and 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications ensuring regulatory compliance
Monitor patient medication adherence and identify potential overuse
Maintain proper inventory and ensure medication supplies comply with legal standards
Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer inquiries
Provide consultation on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, and drug interactions
Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols
Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, interns, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues

Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
Valid Michigan pharmacy license
Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; LTC experience is advantageous
Strong knowledge of medication management and patient counseling
Excellent communication and leadership skills
