Contingent Project Manager

Our client, a package delivery and supply chain management company, is seeking an experienced Contingent Project Manager for a 23‑month contract role in Atlanta, GA. This role is hybrid. Job Summary Requires a moderate degree of project management knowledge, experience, skill, and expertise. Additional essential skills include communication, problem solving, results orientation, conflict management, creativity, and critical thinking. The role operates in coordination with, and takes direction from, the ePMO Lead/Project Lead to ensure that all project activities and outputs align with strategic objectives, deliverables, schedules, business cases, and the expectations set with sponsors and senior leadership. The candidate will support simple projects while guiding the team to adhere to PM discipline, drive the team’s cadence for planning, updates, and status reviews with sponsors, and apply PM principles, guidelines, and standards. Travel may be required as needed. Job Duties Facilitate all project planning and execution of PM activities (~25% of time). Apply appropriate PM processes/tools to projects (~50% of time). Identify and manage interdependencies with other projects/initiatives (~10% of time). Manage project scope, schedule, initiation, startup/design, building, and deployment of projects from beginning to end. Create and manage PM artifacts while educating the team on their creation and proper use throughout the project (e.g., Project Charter, Project Plan, RACIO, Risk/Issue identification & mitigation, Status reports). Review deliverables and ensure quality. Provide PM methodology/tools to ensure proper governance, oversight, strategic alignment, and project success. Facilitate initiation/planning of project scope (objectives, resources, milestones, risks, etc.). Review funding, cost plans, and actual expenses to verify projects remain within funding parameters. Solicit and gather information via interviews with process owners to understand the "as‑is" and "to‑be" processes. Identify and communicate skill gaps to the Project Lead and recommend improvement opportunities. Provide thorough responses to problem resolution and identify business areas/stakeholders impacted by issues. Identify root causes to prevent recurrence. Communicate processes to customers and train on process changes/enhancements. Develop and monitor process metrics to gauge project health and identify process improvement opportunities. Required Qualifications 3 years of project management experience. 6 years as a project team member. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent international degree). Experience applying stakeholder communication and management principles. Proficient in commercial PM software (e.g., MS Project, Office, SharePoint). Ability to learn additional tools such as projects website; experience with web‑based remote meeting applications (e.g., Skype, Zoom, WebEx). Must work full time (≈40 hours/week) with flexibility for overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and possible overnight stays as needed. Willingness to travel by plane or personal vehicle/rental car. Preferred Qualifications PM certifications: PMI‑PMP, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent.
