Position Summary \n

The organization is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director within a hospital-based behavioral health setting in Connecticut.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing medical, clinical, and behavioral health services operations within a major psychiatric or hospital service area. The Medical Director will provide administrative and clinical leadership while collaborating with physicians, nursing leadership, behavioral health professionals, and executive administration to ensure high-quality psychiatric care delivery and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities \n

\n
• Provide medical and administrative leadership for hospital-based psychiatric and behavioral health programs
\n
• Oversee clinical operations, patient care standards, and behavioral health service delivery
\n
• Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
\n
• Lead and supervise physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
\n
• Participate in physician recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and staff development
\n
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards related to psychiatric and medical services
\n
• Collaborate with executive leadership regarding operational planning, staffing, budgeting, and program development
\n
• Participate in quality assurance studies, investigations, and patient safety initiatives
\n
• Maintain relationships with external healthcare agencies, advisory boards, courts, and academic institutions
\n
• Support accreditation activities and performance improvement programs
\n
• Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to medical staff and trainees as needed
\n
• Participate in committees, leadership meetings, and interdisciplinary case reviews
\n
• May provide direct patient care and psychiatric consultation services as required
\n

Qualifications \n

\n
• Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
\n
• Board Status: Board-Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
\n
• Licensure: Active or eligible Connecticut medical license
\n
• Experience: Prior leadership experience in a hospital, clinic, correctional, or behavioral health setting preferred
\n
• Leadership Skills: Strong administrative, organizational, communication, and clinical leadership abilities
\n
• Additional Requirements: Must maintain eligibility for participation in federal healthcare programs
\n
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with accreditation processes, quality improvement initiatives, academic affiliations, forensic psychiatry, addiction medicine, geriatrics, ABI/TBI, or related specialty areas is highly valued
\n
