Essential functions complete and maintain all job performance requirements and standards as established by department specific procedures. Consistently follow production guides, menu and assemble food, supplies and equipment for daily preparation of salads, sandwiches and cook menu items. Support teamwork and cooperation with co-workers in daily activities; present constructive feedback regarding system failures and participate in resolution. Interact positively and courteously with all customers (patients, visitors, vendors and co-workers in other departments) through direct interaction, telephone conversations or written materials. Perform responsibilities with adaptability to fluctuating workload by effectively prioritizing patient care needs. Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food or defective supplies or unusual conditions. Follow procedures for sanitation of work area and equipment during food production. Clean and sanitize work area and equipment at end of shift. Consistently complete responsibilities and assignments in a timely manner; successfully meet goals established in previous performance appraisal. Maintain all standards as required in the department, and Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual. Consistently label and date food appropriately for sale or storage. Consistently check equipment to ensure proper working order; report all safety hazards. Maintain required records as directed, such as temperature records.

Minimum qualifications and experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum one (1) year cooking experience required, preferably in high volume environment. Requires knowledge of standard cooking and sanitation methods and procedures. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Working conditions: Work requires moderate physical effort; must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work in an environment with varying noise level, variation of temperatures and have exposure to a variety of kitchen equipment and tools.
