Growing together.Sr. Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Implement end-to-end features and user stories, including analysis, design, development, validation, deployment, and post-deployment supportAnalyze and document business logic in existing and legacy applications, and re-implement it as maintainable, well-tested softwareDesign, build, and optimize computation-intensive processing - improving the runtime, scalability, and accuracy of calculation-heavy workloadsBuild and maintain validation and parity-testing frameworks that verify new implementations produce results consistent with the systems they replaceWork with relational databases and modern data platforms to design, query, and optimize data models and pipelinesApply security principles and industry best practices when designing and building secure applications and APIs, including safeguarding sensitive and confidential dataContribute to the design and adoption of architectural patterns, engineering standards, and reusable frameworksBuild, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines, code quality gates, and test automation frameworksTroubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues across development, test, and production environments, including correctness and precision defects in calculation logicCollaborate within Agile development teams, and directly with business and analytical subject matter experts, to translate domain rules into technical requirements and validated solutionsLeverage AI tools (including Copilot and related AI Builder tools) to enhance development productivity and efficiencyDemonstrate solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration across teamsMentor and guide team members, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning while taking ownership of deliverables and driving successful outcomesGenerally work is self-directed and not prescribed.Works with less structured, more complex issues.Serves as a resource to others.You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:8+ years of hands-on software development experience using Python, with exposure to modern front-end frameworks such as React.js8+ years of experience working on modern software engineering technologies, with a solid focus on API development (RESTful services using FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar)8+ years of experience working with relational databases, including data modelling, complex queries, and query optimization8+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments8+ years of experience in cloud-native development using platforms such as Azure, or GCP, and working with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)5+ years of experience developing data-intensive or analytical applications using pandas, NumPy, or comparable libraries1+ years of experience in applying numerical or algorithmic methods - iterative solvers, root-finding, optimization, or convergence and precision analysis1+ years of experience in developing secure RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures1+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices1+ years of experience in ability to effectively use AI-powered development tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve productivityPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related fieldExperience modernizing legacy or end-user-computing applications (spreadsheet- or macro-based business logic) into production softwareExperience with distributed or parallel computing frameworks (Spark, Dask, Ray, or equivalent)Experience with Databricks or a comparable lakehouse/data platform, including medallion (bronze/silver/gold) architectureExperience with data governance, lineage, quality, and access-control frameworksExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or similar platformsHealthcare payer, actuarial, pricing, or financial-modelling domain experiencePay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
