VA Careers - Medical Support AssistantMSA duties and responsibilities include:Addresses all clinical and administrative concerns in collaboration with members of the ASU/APO interdisciplinary team within appropriate timeframes (emergent or non-emergent) and communicates outcomes to relevant parties.Participates in team huddles and meetings to facilitate patient care planning, establish priorities and deadlines, adjust workflow sequencing as needed, reinforce care plans and self-help strategies, document pertinent information in the electronic record, and monitor pre-appointment readiness requirements.Schedules, cancels, and reschedules patient appointments; records noshow and cancellation data; manages patient check-in for scheduled appointments.Sends appointment notifications, instructions, and reminders/cancellation correspondence to patients; completes patient check-in procedures, obtains essential information, and initiates administrative processing of requests and forms.Verifies and updates demographic information; conducts basic eligibility checks, co-pay calculations, and preauthorization requirements for insurance coverage.Utilizes computer-based phone systems to courteously answer and direct multi-line calls; takes comprehensive telephone messages and documents contacts in CPRS via view alerts.Monitors and responds to voicemail communications.Manages incoming and outgoing fax processes and distribution.Oversees multiple reports and lists, including but not limited to electronic wait lists, RTCs, and EARs.May order supplies and submit work orders as required.Work Schedule: 5:30am to 6:00pm; Full-time, hours vary on patient care needsTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 03250FRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedPCS Appraised Value Offer (AVO): Not AuthorizedPay: Competitive salary and regular salary increasesPaid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
