What's the role

Shell is seeking for Integration Lead, Americas Flex Gen to join its team in Houston, TX.

The Integration Lead, Americas Flex Gen serves as the Operations and Asset Management subject matter expert for gas-fired generation (GFG) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the pre-operational development and delivery phases.

For Flex Gen asset acquisition projects, this role participates in due diligence through site visits and data room reviews, ensuring findings and mitigations are escalated to project leadership, reflected in financial models, and documented in risk registers and other project records. For Flex Gen organic growth projects, the role supports design reviews, financial model OPEX assumptions, and overall project assurance. The Integration Lead guides projects through transition to an Asset Manager, ensuring a structured handover and clear alignment on investment objectives, key value drivers, risks, and controls. The role also ensures operational learnings are incorporated into new assets, including operating and maintenance strategies, governance frameworks with joint venture partners, and technical standards. As Shell continues to expand its Flex Gen portfolio and advance its data center power supply strategy, this role will help shape the future operating model for these assets.

The preferred candidate will be an Electrical, Rotating Equipment, Mechanical, or Process Engineer, or a senior Operations leader with substantial Flex Gen asset operations experience. A collaborative, externally focused, and learning-oriented mindset is essential, as the role will support asset classes that are relatively new to Shell's portfolio. Strong engagement and effective communication across Shell Power, Shell Trading, joint venture partners, and external industry networks will be critical to maintaining effective asset reviews and delivering business value. Given the scope and level of interface with Project Development and Acquisition teams, transaction counterparties, and external partners, the candidate must demonstrate strong experience in the power generation industry, including development, delivery, operations, and asset ownership transition practices. The successful candidate must be available to travel in support of asset due diligence and onboarding, typically twice per quarter on average, with potential for more frequent travel depending on site activities. This role will work closely with peers from Engineering, Commercial, and Trading and will be supported by contractors and internal support functions as needed.

Accountabilities:

Development, Delivery & Transactions Support

• Serve as the Operations representative and subject matter expert for Flex Gen development, delivery, acquisition, and divestment opportunities

• Provide long-term owner and operator perspectives during project development and construction to improve safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle value. Assure OPEX assumptions in project economic models and identify operational risks for inclusion in project risk registers

• Participate in technical due diligence activities for acquisitions, including data room reviews, site visits, and engagement with sellers and advisors

• Support divestment and dilution processes through operational input to transaction activities, buyer engagements, data room preparation, and review of operational obligations within sale and joint venture agreements

New Asset and Asset Acquisition Onboarding

• Serve as the Asset Management process owner for new asset onboarding and implementation, including dilutions and divestments

• Lead project implementation, asset onboarding, and transition activities to enable safe and seamless handover into operations. Ensure relevant operational contracting is transferred or established to support site operations

• Lead comprehensive knowledge transfer from Development and Acquisition teams to Asset Management teams. Collaborate with Asset Management and Development teams to develop initial asset operating plans, budgets, risk registers, and assurance plans aligned with investment proposals and due diligence findings

• Facilitate asset handovers in compliance with Shell minimum standards for HSSE, IT/Information Risk Management, Contract Management requirements, and others, ensuring gap assessments and action items are transitioned to Asset Management teams.

What you bring

• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field of study is preferred, or a senior Operations leader with substantial Flex Gen asset operations experience.

• At least 7 years of experience operating and maintaining high- and low-voltage electrical systems, power generation equipment, and/or associated control systems, including operational leadership of power generation assets with accountability for safety, performance, and business outcomes

• Experience managing third-party operations and maintenance providers, OEMs, contractors, and service providers within an operational environment is required
• Strong understanding of GFG asset operations, maintenance, reliability, performance management, and lifecycle value optimization
• Working knowledge of power generation systems, electrical infrastructure, grid interconnection requirements, and utility-scale renewable technologies
• Demonstrated HSSE leadership experience, including management of operational risk, contractor safety, and regulatory compliance programs
• Experience with commercial stewardship, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management. Ability to interpret asset financial statements and reports, maintenance plans, budgets, and financial models
• Experience supporting asset integrations, major projects, commissioning, operational readiness, acquisitions, or portfolio growth initiatives
• Knowledge of regulatory, permit, environmental, and compliance requirements applicable to energy operations
• Knowledge of contract administration and commercial agreements, including O&M, OEM, land, interconnection, service, and other operating agreements.
• Experience engaging with asset owners, joint venture partners, regulators, and senior leadership teams is a plus
• Understanding of asset risk management practices, including risk identification, control assurance, incident management, and corrective action tracking is a plus
• Maintains awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and operating practices to identify opportunities for improved asset performance, competitiveness, and value delivery is a plus

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $149,000 - $223,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
