Broadcast Operations Technician

Agency: Bureau of Information and Technology Location: Vermillion, SD Pay Grade: 01 This is a Full-Time position with the Bureau of Information and Technology - South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB). We seek an energetic, organized, and goal-focused professional to operate and monitor television and radio transmitting equipment. Incumbents will complete this by reading meters, observing transmitter components, and observing equipment for possible problems. This position also assists in minor maintenance of broadcast equipment and switching of video and audio sources. As well as schedules and facilitates streaming services across multiple state facilities and platforms. Requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including overnight hours, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7/365 continuous operations. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Ability to work independently without continuous supervision is a must. Knowledge Of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: broadcast operations; Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations; IP networking; electronics terminology. Ability To navigate MS Windows folders and files; use MS Office products; take meter readings; work independently. This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
