Construction Laborer

The Construction Laborer is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving building materials, machinery, and/or tools as necessary to appropriate locations. Works in a construction setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. This position will ensure timely completion of fence panel installation and assist with concrete pour. The Construction Labor is fast paced, result-oriented, and task oriented with a proactive work ethic and naturally meticulous organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations as per project plans/specifications
• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones. Direct vehicle traffic.
• Shovel materials to and from construction areas
• Operate vehicles, tools, and equipment as needed, including those with trailers
• Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including disposing of waste materials and digging trenches
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders, and other tools as directed by management
• Reports safety incidents immediately to Foreman, Safety Director, and/or HR manager

Skillset:

• Able to use a computer and a phone
• Able to use office equipment (fax, copy machine, scanner)
• Must be able to move quickly from one area to another
• Able to operate a vehicle
• Ability to obtain security clearances
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, talk, or hear for long periods of time. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without the aid of equipment and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work outside in inclement conditions and in mud, snow, and ice. The individual must be able to climb stairs and work in tight spots to perform the essential functions.
