Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients in a tertiary, teaching hospital setting. The position involves working with a varied patient population across multiple units, including acute care, critical care, and pediatrics. The RRT plays a critical role in patient assessment and intervention, ensuring optimal respiratory function for all patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy for patients, including assessments and treatment plans.
• Manage mechanical ventilation for critically ill patients.
• Perform blood gas analysis and monitor patient progress.
• Participate in the call rotation approximately once a month.
• Assist in emergencies in the ED and other departments as needed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient care outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS Certification required; ACLS preferred.
• NRP Certification required for NICU.
• Licensure to practice as an RRT in the applicable state.
• Experience in a level 1 trauma center and tertiary care setting is strongly preferred.
• Ability to float to other units, including NICU and PICU, as necessary.
