The Shipping / Receiving Clerk is responsible for daily warehousing operation such as receiving, controlling, organizing cargo, and inputting data into the system. You will also verify and maintain records of incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as prepare items for shipment. Responsibilities Prepares shipping documents. Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips, and assists with unloading as necessary. May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods. Maintains internal record-keeping systems. Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and customers in order to prepare shipping of their parts. Prepares identifying information and shipping instructions. Maintains storage area, organizes and places stock on shelves. Ensures area is always secure. Schedule large shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items and staff on hand to manage the shipments. Handle issues arising in shipping handling. Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems. Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them. Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods. Qualifications High school or equivalent preferred. Detail-oriented and good troubleshooting skills. Dependable, honest, reliable. Ability to multi-task. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and organize in pallets small and midsize boxes. Self-motivated to begin, continue, and finish tasks without external rewards. Knows safe storage and handling procedures. Knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate range $16 to $18.00 based on qualifications. Dental, Vision, and Health insurance.
