We are seeking a motivated Substation Electrician I to join our Transmission & Distribution Construction team. This entry-level role offers hands‑on training and career development opportunities for individuals looking to build a long‑term career in the electrical power industry. The successful candidate will assist with the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of substation equipment while working alongside experienced industry professionals. Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Participate in all safety programs, training sessions, and compliance initiatives. Follow company safety procedures and maintain a zero‑incident mindset. Report safety hazards, near misses, and workplace incidents promptly. Follow all safety procedures when working around energized equipment. Assist with the installation and maintenance of high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) substation equipment. Support work involving breakers, switches, transformers, bus systems, and capacitor banks. Learn proper testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures. Assist with reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings. Site Preparation & Equipment Operation Assist with excavation, backfilling, and site preparation activities. Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. Ensure proper care and handling of jobsite equipment. Job Site Operations Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Communicate issues or deficiencies to supervisors promptly. Collaborate effectively with crew members and field leadership. Support daily substation construction activities as assigned. Requirements Must Have Minimum 2 years of recent electrician experience as a Substation Helper or equivalent role. High School Diploma, GED, or Line School Diploma/Certificate. Must be at least 18 years old. Valid driver's license. Ability to obtain a Class A CDL. Ability to travel extensively (up to 95%). Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven terrain. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Nice to Have OSHA certifications. Flagger certification. Safety‑related certifications or training. Experience working around high‑voltage electrical systems. Class A CDL already obtained.
