Overview The Mental Health Professional provides clinical services to individuals under the supervision of the Mental Health Coordinator or Clinical Supervisor. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering evidence‑based psychotherapeutic interventions, and offering mental health consultation and training to facility staff. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and diagnostic evaluations. Complete all required clinical documentation, including service reports and treatment records, in a timely and professional manner. Consult with institutional staff—including screening committees and psychiatric personnel—regarding the mental status and management of clients. Participate in staff meetings, in‑service training programs, and specialized clinical services or program development activities. Maintain accountability through the Quality Improvement program and accurate recording of activities. Education & Experience Master’s degree in a behavioral or social science field from an accredited college or university. Coursework and professional experience that demonstrates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, psychological assessment techniques, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation. Licenses & Certifications Licensed (LMSW, LPC, or similar) in the state from the appropriate licensing board. Must maintain CPR certification and any other required certifications such as First Aid. Additional Competencies Comfort with crisis management, treatment of severe mental illness, brief solution‑focused interventions, substance‑use and withdrawal awareness, boundary setting, and manipulation awareness. Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills and emotional resilience. Knowledge of 5150/5250 mechanics, Title 15 & BSCC standards, and CalAIM continuity of care.
