SMX is seeking a Network Administrator to join our team supporting NAVAIR at Patuxent River, MD. This is a mid-level role supporting enterprise network infrastructure, boundary services, cybersecurity compliance, and modernization efforts across a large DoD environment.This position requires approximately 2–3 days onsite each week at Patuxent River, MD.This position is a great opportunity for a network professional looking to expand their experience with Cisco, F5, enterprise networking, cybersecurity, and cloud modernization while working alongside experienced engineering and operations teams.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot LAN, WAN, and application-level connectivity and performance issuesConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco switches, routers, and other network infrastructureManage and administer F5 BIG-IP devices and load balancing servicesDeploy new network devices in accordance with approved engineering designsSupport highly available network architectures and traffic management solutionsMaintain boundary security infrastructure supporting NAVAIR core sitesWork with NCDOC, NAVAIR Information Assurance, and Program Management teams to investigate network security incidentsSupport DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) enablement effortsSupport NMCI/legacy network interoperability and cloud migration initiativesReview STIG requirements and updates and support remediation of identified vulnerabilitiesAssist with network documentation, SOPs, work instructions, processes, and desk guidesCollaborate with Windows, Unix/Linux, cybersecurity, cloud, engineering, and other infrastructure teams supporting the Data CenterParticipate in an on-call rotation and scheduled off-hours maintenance windows as requiredRequired Skills & Experience Clearance Required: Top SecretA secret clearance may be considered to start, but candidates must be eligible for upgrade to Top Secret US Citizenship is required for work on DOW contracts DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II compliant certification, such as Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, or another qualifying certification3+ years of experience supporting network infrastructure, Cisco devices, IP networking, or related enterprise network environmentsExperience configuring, monitoring, maintaining, or troubleshooting network systems and infrastructureFamiliarity with enterprise networking concepts, protocols, and highly available network environmentsWorking knowledge of DoD cybersecurity practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams and customersDesired Skills & Experience Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, including VLANs, trunking, routing, and network troubleshootingExperience administering Cisco Firepower firewalls or comparable enterprise firewall/security platformsExperience configuring and supporting F5 BIG-IP, including load balancing, virtual servers, pools, health monitors, and traffic managementExperience supporting network boundary infrastructure, including firewalls, routing, access controls, and secure connectivity between network environmentsFamiliarity with common enterprise networking protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, SNMP, and 802.1QExperience performing Cisco IOS/NX-OS configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshootingExperience applying DISA STIGs, reviewing vulnerability findings, and remediating network-device security findingsExperience supporting network infrastructure within a DoD, NAVAIR, or other regulated enterprise environmentExperience troubleshooting connectivity across physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted environmentsExperience creating and maintaining network diagrams, device configurations, SOPs, and technical documentation#cjpost #LI-HYBRIDThe SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
