Research Assistant, Basic Science - Department of Oncology Wayne State University is searching for an experienced ResearchAssistant, Basic Science - Department of Oncology at itsDetroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties): Perform laboratory-based scientific techniques. Assist in designingand performing experiments. Participate in implementing researchobjectives, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory andprotocol guidelines. Communicate with Principal Investigator andPostdoctoral scholars/fellows on the status of research. Collect and log laboratory results and/or survey data. Evaluate andperform data analysis using graphs, charts, or tables to highlightthe key points of the research results collected in accordance withthe research protocols as stipulated. Proofread and edit researchdata and documents to ensure accuracy. Assist Principal Investigator with writing methods andsummarizing/organizing data to be used in preparing and presentingpresentations for professional, scientific, and academicconferences, and submittal to academic and scholarly peer-reviewedjournals. Maintain the laboratory work areas, including routine maintenanceon laboratory equipment as required. Order and organize requiredresearch supplies and records. Maintain cleanliness andorganization of workstation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Unique duties: Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in arelated field of study, preferred. Requires advanced knowledge predominantly intellectual incharacter in a field of science or learning acquired by a prolongedcourse of specialized intellectual instruction. Experience: Entry level (less that a year of job-relatedexperience) Experience in performing basic research techniques preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to accurately follow research protocols and workindependently as required. Ability to analyze, summarize, andinterpret research findings and data in reports and spreadsheetsand communicate results. Knowledge of scientific integrityprinciples. Experience in cell, molecular, biological, andbiochemical techniques. Excellent time management andorganizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstratedability to work with others in a collaborative environment.Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software.
