Duties The Coast Guard Yard is an industrial facility performing activities related to the maritime industry including ship repair, construction, ship disposal and industrial activities. You will be a member of a team providing inspection, program review, and training services in the occupational safety and health to the Yard and tenant commands.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include:* Advising and providing consultative services to the Safety and Occupational Health Staff, industrial managers/supervisors, engineering personnel, medical personnel, top and mid level management as well as the workforce on occupational safety and health matters.* Conducting comprehensive occupational safety and health surveys in the work environment.* Investigating and analyzing mishaps to ascertain root cause and contributing elements and submits to appropriate units via electronic mishap system.* Maintaining all records and data associated with mishaps, including the OSHA Log, Lost Time Case Rates (LTCR) and Lost Days as well as other regulatory required record keeping.* Investigating safety complaints and recommends corrective action to supervisors, managers and other personnel. Maintaining the Hazardous Condition Log in regard to complaint resolution.
