Network Security Engineer

Job Description

Our large technical manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on OT Security Engineer to support secure network operations, remote access deployments, and vulnerability management across enterprise and operational technology (OT) environments. This individual will partner closely with network, system, and site owners to drive secure configurations while balancing uptime and operational constraints. 70% of the responsibilities include configuration on client sites, other facilities and user accounts while the other 30% is vulnerability management.

This is a 6 month contract opportunity. This opportunity is remote but EST is required, and proximity to Wilmington, Delaware is a plus. Pay range will fall from $55-60/hr.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Support network security design + segmentation by analyzing traffic flows, ports, and protocols

• Deploy and troubleshoot secure remote access solutions across PCN / OT environments

• Partner with firewall + system owners to define access paths, rules, and configurations

• Conduct vulnerability assessments across network, server, and OT assets

• Drive remediation efforts with asset owners and track through full lifecycle

• Support onboarding of new tools, sites, and cybersecurity integrations

• Ensure logging, monitoring, encryption, and authentication standards are met

• Maintain asset inventory tooling and investigate data collection issues

Skills and Requirements

• 3-5 years in networking, cybersecurity, or infrastructure engineering

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (protocols, routing, segmentation)

• Experience with secure remote access technologies

• Exposure to vulnerability management and remediation workflows

• Strong understanding of Purdue Model (PERA) and OT network architecture, including segmentation across Levels 0–5

• Experience working below the DMZ (Levels 0–3), supporting plant-floor systems (SCADA, PLCs, industrial controls)

• Knowledge of OT/IT separation and DMZ environments, including use cases (data historians, jump servers, patching) and securing control systems from corporate IT access

• Familiarity with industrial control systems & uptime-critical environments, ideally working with OEMs like Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, ABB, or Honeywell Background in manufacturing environment

Ability to travel to DE when needed

Ability to translate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders
