Unit Receptionist (Per Diem) - Outpatient Rehab Services

Overview Under the leadership of the department office supervisor, the unit receptionist (UR) performs duties related to scheduling and pre-registration for upcoming services to assure a smooth process for the patient. Duties include reviewing orders from physicians, assuring therapy is scheduled accordingly, providing clear and accurate instructions to patients regarding upcoming appointments, verifying insurance type and assuring required authorizations are in place for workers’ compensation and state and county programs, entering complete and accurate data using computer technology, and supporting therapist/physician scheduling effectiveness. Responsibilities Schedule and pre-register patients for upcoming services to ensure a smooth process. Review physician orders and schedule therapy accordingly. Provide clear and accurate instructions to patients regarding upcoming appointments. Verify insurance type and ensure required authorizations are in place for workers’ compensation and state and county programs. Enter complete and accurate data using computer technology and maintain data accuracy. Assist in keeping therapist/physician schedules as full and compact as possible. Qualifications Experience: At least 1 year of clerical experience in a fast-paced healthcare setting (scheduling, answering phones, typing, filing). Basic understanding of insurance requirements. Knowledge and experience with medical terminology. Skills: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Excellent communication skills. Ability to maintain a positive professional demeanor in a demanding environment. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to quickly comprehend new techniques and concepts and adapt readily to change. Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field. Hours, Type & Compensation Assigned Work Hours: Various hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday Position Type: Per Diem Pay Range: $35.36 to $47.32 (based on years of applicable experience) The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.
