Senior Admin AssistantThe Departments of English and Modern Languages & Linguistics are seeking a people-oriented and self-motivated person to provide skilled secretarial support to these two departments, including maintaining student, faculty, accounting, and informative records. This is a 12-month, full-time position with state employee benefits.Job responsibilities:Assist visitors; answer general questions and route inquiries; instruct others on procedures and processes; schedule appointments, meetings, and events; provide basic budgeting and accounting; monitor course sections; supervise student workers; process requests and reimbursements for travel and expenses; oversee payroll and process payroll paperwork, and perform a variety of other senior-secretarial support functions for the department, as assigned.Knowledge of:Modern office and secretarial practices.Computers and current office software to include word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (Microsoft Word and Excel).Business English including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.Filing systems.Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and payroll procedures.Familiarity with higher-education work environment and applications used is preferred.Ability to:Handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.Communicate effectively, in English, in oral and written forms.Relate well with faculty, staff, and students.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.Make decisions independently and determine when consultation with supervisor is required.Apply on-line at For information, accommodations or assistance, contact Human Resources at the University of South Dakota at View phone number on click.appcast.io.
