Solids/Energy Southeast Area Practice Leader

Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for an Area Practice Leader (APL) to help lead major projects and deliver exceptional service to our well-established wastewater/biosolids clients. The APL will be responsible for driving growth in the Solids/Energy practice to advance the Southeast Area’s strategic goals. The APL will be responsible for understanding the unique trends in the area and using that knowledge to create technical differentiation from our competitors while serving as an important conduit between the National Practice Leaders, Specialty Leaders, and the practice staff in the Business Unit.In this position, you will help win and deliver wastewater and solids/energy projects in the Southeast and will be part of the Biosolids/Energy Practice’s leadership team.Specific Southeast wastewater and solids/energy roles and responsibilities will be determined by alignment of strategic needs and candidate strengths but would likely include acting as a project manager for WWTP projects, client service manager (CSM) for new strategic clients, and/or sales leader for strategic pursuits. Responsibilities Provide technical expertise and leadership on complex and highimpact environmental engineering projects. Develop and approve advanced engineering analyses, designs, and strategic recommendations. Influence technical approaches, standards, and methodologies across projects and programs. Lead development of complex, multidisciplinary environmental management and infrastructure solutions. Provide expert technical guidance during regulatory negotiations, permitting, and stakeholder engagement. Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs. Mentorship Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles. Skills and Competencies Recognized expertise in environmental engineering and related regulatory environments Strategic and systemslevel problemsolving skills Ability to influence technical decisions with significant organizational impact. Strong leadership, communication, and advisory capabilities. Experience Typically, a minimum of 15 years of related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field. Preferred Experience B.S. degree in Civil, Chemical, Sanitary, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering required; MS degree preferred.Experience in municipal engineering and consultingDemonstrated experience in the planning, design and construction of biosolids projectsDemonstrated knowledge of biosolids regulations and current issues surrounding PFAS preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documentsUnderstanding of regulatory compliance and permittingStrong project or task management skillsSuccessful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experienceExcellent technical writing and communication skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required.Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be requiredEducation A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required. Licensure as a professional engineer is required. Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education.
