Animal Husbandry Specialist II, Aviculture
Colossal Biosciences
An affiliate of Colossal Biosciences seeks an Animal Husbandry Specialist II for aviculture in the Dallas area. The role involves providing comprehensive care for a diverse collection of bird species, managing habitats, monitoring animal health, and supporting breeding and research initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily husbandry care for large and diverse bird species collection
- Monitor and document animal behavior, health, and wellbeing in record systems
- Maintain animal habitats, equipment, and tools in proper condition
- Assist veterinary and research staff with medical exams and treatments
- Develop and implement enrichment and training plans for bird species
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in aviculture
- Expertise in avian animal care and conservation
- Strong animal handling skills for veterinary procedures
- Associate or bachelor's degree in biological science (preferred)
- Experience with exotic bird breeding, incubation, and hand-rearing (preferred)
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in outdoor field conditions
