OverviewThe fleet routing software provided by Esri empowers the largest companies in the world to solve their challenging vehicle routing problems. We actively develop new capabilities, and have openings for energetic, organized, and proactive individuals to test the quality and performance of these solvers, and to contribute to their future design and documentation.Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Redlands, CA area for this position.ResponsibilitiesGain a thorough understanding of the fleet routing solversExtend and maintain an extensive suite of test cases that exercise various features of the fleet routing solversCreate adversarial test cases to expose potential flaws in solution qualityBuild, run, and monitor the performance, durability and scalability of the fleet routing solversCreate compelling and clear data visualizations of testing resultsCollaborate with development programmers to design and build innovative new functionalityEngage with customers to understand their real-world business problems, and to model those problems using Esri fleet routing functionalityResearch and analyze customer requests and industry standards to establish and define new solver requirementsTroubleshoot and diagnose customer problems involving solution quality or performanceTest and document recommended workflows for ArcGIS users and developersCreate innovative solutions combining various Network Analyst and other GIS techniques, within the broader context of strategic planning and territory designRequirements2+ years of experience in one of the following:Developing test data and test cases as well as designing and running stress and load testsStatistical analysis on large datasets to summarize data, discover trends and patterns, and provide insightJupyter Notebooks and Python's visualization and data science libraries (such as Matplotlib and Pandas)Experience developing applications in Python and the use of REST APIsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to analyze and solve problems in rigorous and innovative waysBachelor’s degree in operations research, computer science, mathematics, data science, or related fieldRecommended QualificationsMaster's degree in operations research, computer science, mathematics, data science, or related fieldKnowledge of Vehicle Routing Problem models such as electric vehicle routing and household waste pickupKnowledge of route optimization methodologies, especially the use of metaheuristicsExperience with statistical design of experiments and algorithm tuningPassion for finding the needle in the haystack#LI-EL1Total RewardsEsri’s competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
