PROGRAM TECHNICIAN II

The Participant Management Unit (PMU) at CalRecycle is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual that wants to work in a multi-tasking environment!


We are looking for a strong communicator with tact and professionalism who is self-driven, creative, and customer focused to assist with the management of Beverage Manufacturers and Distributors (BM & DS) reporting and paying into the California Beverage Container Recycling Fund. To be successful in this position you will need to work cohesively with a team, and be open minded and flexible to new ideas and solutions. The classification for this position is Program Technician II (PT II).


This position will leverage your skills to independently perform a variety of more difficult program duties to support the PMU team. The PT II will work in conjunction with the PMU Team on various BM & DS processes. In addition, the PT II will provide detailed program information and directions to the public and registered participants related to registration, product review and labeling and other support duties as needed.

This is a 24-month Limited Term position that may become permanent.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1, 2026, it is anticipated that the position will be office-centered and employees will be expected to report to the office at least four days per week.

Working Conditions
The incumbent works in a high-rise office building in an enclosed, non-windowed office cubicle in a smoke-free environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. Mandatory overtime, including evening and weekend work, may be necessary during the year end closing process or when the department is mission tasked. Travel may be required locally and within the state.
