Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Soliant is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join a supportive school district in Illinois for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting.

Responsibilities
- Provide interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students throughout the school day.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
- Interpret during classroom instruction, school meetings, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards.
- Complete required documentation and participate in school meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approval/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or eligibility to obtain it.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required. Candidates with an EIPA score of 3.0 may be considered with ISBE approval.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
