Fire and Emergency Services Online Adjunct Faculty

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that ‎‎‎‎‎‎an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage ‎‎‎‎‎‎in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed ‎‎‎‎‎‎Christian worldview. The Fire and Emergency Services Adjunct position is considered an Online Adjunct Professor position with the Helms School of Government and is expected to instruct students in accordance with on the university standards of instruction and fulfill all administrative obligations. This position will be assigned an Instructional Mentor as director supervisor. Further details regarding job duties and expectations are as follows in the additional job description section:

Instruction

- Conduct all instructional activities in accordance with the university standards of instruction.

- Teach from the material within the approved curriculum on schedule.

- Provide timely feedback on assignments and replies to student correspondence.

- Maintain and report student grades and attendance.

Administrative

- Inform HSOG of availably to be assigned courses in each subterm using the schools proscribed methods.

- Maintain up-to-date personnel and professional data in the university’s databases.

- Conduct self-evaluations as part of the professional evaluation process.

- Monitor the HSOG Communication Center and assigned Instructional Mentor’s channel.

- Complete FERPA, Title IX, and all other assigned training on time.

- Support Subject Matter Experts and Program Directors in curriculum development and conduct assessment activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• PhD, Doctorate (other than Juris Doctor), or similar terminal degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Public Administration, Public Policy, Emergency Management , specialized doctorates such as Doctor of Fire Integrated Research or other related disciplines.

Other Qualifications

• Publication record in relevant discipline

• Demonstrated strengths in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level.

• Appropriate mentoring and interpersonal skills.

• Organizational skills that facilitate the completion of assignments and tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

• Familiarity with of Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems

Courses are typically paid at $800 per load hour.
