MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN (CODER)
US Department of War
Duties
Assign codes to all final diagnoses, procedures, and operations for medical appointments.
Select most applicable medical procedure in the hierarchy of surgical classes within its major diagnostic category.
Contact appropriate medical staff members to rectify inconsistencies, deficiencies, and discrepancies in medical documentation.
Identify specific clinical findings, support existing diagnoses, and substantiate additional diagnoses in the medical record.
