Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer to lead the development and delivery of innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. This role will provide technical leadership from concept and feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes.


Key responsibilities will include developing process design criteria, mass balances, process flow diagrams, hydraulic profiles, equipment specifications and technical reports. You will assess treatment technologies, optimise plant performance, review design calculations and drawings, and contribute to cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments and project planning. The role will also involve preparing technical scopes, evaluating supplier proposals, supporting tender processes and providing engineering guidance during construction and commissioning. You will be expected to manage technical work packages, mentor less experienced engineers and maintain high standards of quality, health and safety, environmental compliance and professional integrity.


The successful candidate will hold a degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil or Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and have substantial experience in water and/or wastewater treatment design. Strong knowledge of conventional and advanced treatment processes, including biological treatment, clarification, filtration, disinfection, sludge treatment or resource recovery, is highly desirable. Experience with process modelling, design software, technical documentation and relevant industry standards will be advantageous. You should be a confident communicator with strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills, capable of balancing technical excellence with commercial and operational considerations. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status is preferred. The position may require occasional travel to project sites, client offices and treatment facilities.
