Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Specialist Location: Troy, Ohio Salary: $50,000 - $75,000 annually Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a period of stabilization and systems transition. This role is primarily project-based and will focus on payroll cleanup, reconciliations, and year-end support following several years of organizational turnover. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in preparing payroll and benefits data for a future HRIS implementation. Key Responsibilities * Support accurate and timely payroll processing across recurring pay cycles * Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve historical discrepancies * Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and compliance requirements * Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion * Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure payroll accuracy and deadline adherence * Support cleanup and documentation of payroll and benefits data * Partner with HR and Finance to prepare for HRIS and benefits system migration Project Scope * Payroll processing coverage * Payroll and reconciliation cleanup * Year-end payroll support * Payroll and benefits readiness for HRIS implementation Qualifications * Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar payroll-focused role * Hands-on experience with payroll systems and payroll reporting * Strong understanding of payroll compliance and best practices * Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills * Ability to work independently in a high-change environment * Trusted track record of accuracy, discretion, and reliability Why This Role Matters This role is critical to restoring payroll stability and setting the foundation for a successful HRIS and benefits transition after a period of significant organizational change.
