About the Position

Description
An excellent locum tenens opportunity is available for an experienced Pathology Assistant in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This role offers consistent weekday scheduling in a hospital laboratory environment with the opportunity for ongoing coverage until a permanent provider is hired, followed by vacation coverage support.

The Pathology Assistant will be responsible for specimen grossing and pathology workflow support, ensuring completion of the daily caseload prior to shift end. Coverage will primarily be at the main facility, with occasional support opportunities at affiliated locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and preparation of surgical pathology specimens
• Accurately gross and document pathology specimens for diagnostic processing
• Ensure completion of daily pathology caseload prior to end of shift
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory teams to maintain workflow efficiency
• Maintain accurate specimen documentation and reporting standards
• Follow laboratory safety, quality, and compliance protocols
• Assist with pathology operational workflow and specimen management

Working Hours

• Monday – Friday
• Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 1 Hour Unpaid Lunch
• Overtime available if needed to complete daily caseload
• No Call Required

• NPI not applicable for this role

Working Environment

• Primary coverage at hospital laboratory in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
• Possible additional coverage at affiliated facilities in Hilton Head and Columbia
• Credentialing may be required with multiple health systems
• Ongoing assignment until permanent hire, followed by vacation coverage needs

Schedule Availability Needed

• June 29 – July 6 (weekday schedule)
• Additional required coverage: July 15 – July 17
