Qualifications Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the subject area(s): Math 5-12 and Academic Administrator, Supervisor/Director – Core (Math) SEI Endorsement Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience, of which at least two years shall have been in secondary Math Evidence of leadership qualities Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents, and to advocate for children to effectively problem‑solve Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Experience in an urban district/setting preferred Ability to meet the expectations of Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice Performance Responsibilities Organizes and implements the Math Program in grades 9‑12 Establishes department curriculum objectives and develops a plan for the implementation and evaluation of these objectives for grades 9‑12 Assists in the screening, training, and assignment of department personnel Assists department teachers in handling day‑to‑day instructional problems and serves as a resource person for curriculum and instructional consensus Responsible for ordering, inventorying, and distributing all departmental instructional materials Evaluates departmental personnel in accordance with School Committee policy Makes recommendations to the Principal regarding department personnel and advises the Principal on the department’s budgetary needs Conducts classroom visitation of department personnel when necessary and provides follow‑up consultation Reviews teacher lesson plans Develops and maintains a department library Provides orientation and in‑service training programs for department personnel Attends relevant school, district, and professional meetings Meets with other department heads to promote interdisciplinary programs Assists in identifying and utilizing community resources for the department program Implements an ongoing program of curriculum evaluation Provides the Principal or his/her designee with course outlines for all department offerings Is responsible for the Math department programs Assists the Principal in interpreting grading policies, promotional policies, and the district’s instructional program for parents and the community Devises experimental programs designed to improve curriculum and instructional techniques Keeps informed on educational innovations and trends related to department concerns Collaborates with teachers to improve differentiated instructional and assessment strategies Submits required reports and other information as requested by the Principal and/or the Deputy Superintendent in a timely and accurate fashion Assumes any other duties appropriately related to this particular classification as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent Reports To: Principal and Deputy Superintendent Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Principal Terms of Employment DAYS: 190 Days; additional days as determined by the Principal in accordance with the Lynn School Administrators’ Association HOURS: Monday – Friday: 7:30 am – 2:45 pm Salary: Effective July 1st 2026, $109,019 Benefits The City of Lynn offers comprehensive and competitive health and dental benefits; Harvard Pilgrim PPO/HMO, Altus Dental High/Low, and Vision Insurance.
