Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Maintenance TechnicianWe are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of our manufacturing facility and infrastructure systems. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, and help minimize downtime to support a 24/7 industrial environment.You will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency by responding to emergency repairs, supporting new equipment installations, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This position also participates in the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring a strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous training.The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while adapting to changing priorities. We're looking for individuals who enjoy working across a variety of mechanical and facility systems and take pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.Strong candidates typically have experience in areas such as:General mechanical maintenance and equipment repairWelding, fabrication, or pipefittingPlumbing, carpentry, and facility upkeepReading blueprints and using diagnostic toolsYou'll do well in this role if you:Prefer a variety of tasks over repetitive, single-discipline workAre comfortable working independently and solving problems in real timeCan shift priorities quickly to support a 24/7 manufacturing environmentValue safety and are willing to participate in emergency response activitiesThis position is a great fit for technicians coming from manufacturing, industrial plants, facilities maintenance, or military maintenance backgrounds who are looking to apply a wide range of hands-on skills.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and proceduresResponsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtimeSuccessfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controlsAccurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service recordsDirects assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practicesApproaches all activities with a "safety first" attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized.Actively takes part in the Emergency Response Team (ERT), maintaining all required training and medical certifications and responds to incident and/or emergency situationsWorking Conditions:Direct physical work in an industrial manufacturing settingExposure to dusts, fumes, heat, noise, cold and potential exposure to hazardous and toxic materialsPotential to work in isolated locationsWork may occasionally be performed outdoors in variable weather conditionsWork may consist of being elevated either on ladder or lift, or in tight spacesWorking hours may consist of off-shift, on-call, weekends, and holidays to accommodate a 24/7 operationPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.Ability to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and work on ladders or mechanical lifts.Ability to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods.Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.Safety Requirements:All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):Safety glasses, goggles, splash shieldsSteel toe footwearLong pants, sleeved uniform, hearing protectionDust mask, respirator, or supplied air as requiredMedical Screening:Pre-employment PFT and respirator physicalRequired Annual PFT and respirator physicalsQuality and Environmental Responsibilities:Due to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials, MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management, as well as EPA's Risk Management program. All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs.Due to classification of several process waste streams, DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance.Coherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards.
