Medical Billing Specialist

Our client, a healthcare company based in Austin, is hiring a part-time Medical Billing Specialist to support its growing billing department. This role handles claims submission, payment posting, and insurance follow-up for a multi-provider practice. The position works closely with front-office staff and the practice's revenue cycle team to keep accounts current.

The ideal candidate has prior experience with medical billing software and insurance claim processes, including familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding. This is a part-time, on-site position with a flexible schedule suited to candidates balancing other commitments.

Responsibilities

• Submit and track insurance claims through clearinghouse systems
• Post payments and reconcile patient account balances
• Follow up on denied or unpaid claims with insurance carriers
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Prepare and send patient statements
• Respond to billing inquiries from patients and staff
• Maintain accurate records within the practice management system
• Assist with month-end billing reports

Requirements

• 2 or more years of medical billing experience
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Experience with practice management or EHR billing software
• Understanding of insurance claim submission and appeals processes
• Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
• Ability to communicate professionally with patients and payers
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in medical billing or related field preferred
