Student Services Specialist

The Student Services Specialist is the first point of contact for prospective and current students. You’ll answer inbound calls, emails, and chats, and help students through the early stages of enrollment: applying, registering for courses, and getting their documents in on time. This is a mid-level, service-focused role for someone who likes solving problems quickly, keeps clean records, and knows the rules well enough to give students the right answer the first time. What You’ll Own Student Support Answer inbound questions from prospective students and their families by phone, email, and chat, and respond quickly Hold discovery conversations to check applicant qualifications and find the right program fit Guide students through applying, enrolling, and the steps that follow, making sure required documents come in on time Program and Policy Knowledge Learn university programs, policies, and the student life cycle in depth so you can give accurate, relevant answers Spot roadblocks in the student life cycle, escape them, and suggest fixes that make the process easier for students Records and Systems Keep detailed, accurate records in the CRM and Five9 Follow institutional policies so every record stays clean and compliant Teamwork and Process Improvement Work with admissions, financial aid, and academic advising so students get a smooth experience from start to finish Find ways to improve how things run and share your ideas with the team What You Bring High school diploma or GED required 1–2 years of experience in higher ed admissions, recruitment, customer service, or a related field Contact center or customer support experience preferred Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish) Clear, professional speaking and writing, with the ability to explain complex information simply Comfort with Google Workspace, CRM platforms, and dialer/phone systems Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting Sharp attention to detail and strong organizational skills Good problem-solving skills and a commitment to great customer service Ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced, transactional environment Strong communication and time-management skills, along with comfort learning and switching between multiple tech platforms, given the remote environment Ability to work at a computer for long periods Why This Role For many students, you’ll be the first person they talk to on their way to a degree. A quick, clear answer can be the difference between a student who enrolls and one who gives up. You’ll help students get started on the right foot and help our partners turn more interest into enrollments, and you’ll have a direct say in making the process better for every student who comes after.
