Process Engineer

SSOE is looking for a Junior Process Engineer who would like to be part of our team. This person will support local clients, but also with expectation to virtually support project teams in other locations as well. This individual will work on projects from inception through construction developing PFD’s, P&ID’s, process calculations, equipment selection and specifications in the early phases of our projects and continue to provide support through construction and commissioning. Responsibilities A Typical Day Might Include: Explore the benefits that go hand-in-hand with a process engineering position at SSOE Group. Collaboration, accountability, and top-notch training are building blocks we use to set you up for success. Using sound engineering practices, this role will support clients in the chemical industry. The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment. Supporting engineering studies, write reports, develop and complete engineering calculations. Perform or assist with the development of PFDs and P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and procurement. Support development of engineering deliverables. Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to complete necessary project tasks. Support the design and specification of clean-in-place (CIP), general and clean-out -of-place (CtolOP) sanitation. Participate in process-layout reviews to evaluate sanitary routing, equipment access, cleanability, cross-contamination risk, allergen segregation, utility distribution, drainage, and constructability. Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, equipment information, and field installation work for conformance with project requirements. Assist in the creation of bid packages. Perform field work (travel up to 30%) in operating facilities, including existing-condition verification, site surveys, equipment inspection, tie-in identification, and construction/start-up support. Qualifications Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One: Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice. 4+ years of working experience required. Exposure to food, beverage GMP plants and other related industrial settings strongly preferred. Experience using Pipe Flo or AFT Fathom a plus. Ability to work in a client-facing role while partnering with contractors and vendors. Experience with building codes, GMP requirements, and focus on food safe / sanitary design. Experience with utility system equipment and distribution systems. Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
