Direct Support Professional (Caregiver)

Job OpportunityOur company provides 24-hour care to our clients. We are looking for flexible staff to assist when needed.Group SettingSummary: Direct Service Professionals will provide direct care services to individuals in groups. They are also responsible for maintaining the day-to-day activities of the client's home and community in a team setting.Essential DutiesBecome familiar with the client's medical needs, medications, diagnoses, strengths and limitations, etc.Monitor, support, and follow daily schedules and routinesFollow Individual Service Habilitation Plan goals and objectivesDiscuss with the client, as necessary, issues regarding problem-solving, information sharing, and crisis interventionAssist the client in maintaining a clean and orderly home environment.Assist client with independent living skills (i.e. budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, hygiene, laundry, etc.)Accompany the client into the community to engage in age/developmentally appropriate activitiesDevelop a schedule/calendar of activities for the clientsComplete daily progress notes and service information in the client Communication BookMaintain an open line of communication with the team members (client, other staff, supervisor, and case manager)Attend team meetings to provide input on organizational and behavioral issues, etc.Consult with the Supervisor each week about any outstanding issues that need to be addressedFollow the Positive Behavior Plans of clients who have a plan created and collect data as appropriateAssist client with administering medicationEnsure medication is in a lock box so that the client does not have accessEnsure the client is administered the appropriate dosageComplete Incident Reports once an incident occurs and submit them to the Supervisor immediatelyRequirementsQualifications & Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below represent the minimum levels of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:Must have a valid Driver's LicenseMust have reliable transportationMust have and maintain current liability auto insuranceMust have a High School diploma or GED and/or 2 years experience working with individuals with disabilitiesMust have good communication skills (oral and written)Must have adequate analytical and decision-making skillsMust possess knowledge regarding the needs of persons with disabilitiesMust possess the ability to work with others and manage crisesMust be reliableMust be trustworthyMust maintain confidentialityMust have good customer service skillsOther RequirementsMaintain 12 hours of training in "Best Practices" for working with individuals who are Developmentally DisabledAttend CPR/First Aid TrainingMust pass a background check and drug screening
