Assistant Facilities ManagerU Prep Academy District - DETROIT, MIJob Summary:The Assistant Facilities Manager supports the Facilities Director in ensuring effective and efficient management of all aspects of facility and maintenance functions. The Assistant Manager provides support services to the school buildings and ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for teaching and learning.Duties and Responsibilities:Coordinates and schedules building custodians to cover the operational hours of the facilities, including weekends, holidays, and off-hour emergencies as neededHires and trains custodial staffInterfaces and problem solves with building partners and landlordSupervises custodial staff, processes payroll and performs annual staff evaluationsDevelops, creates and enforces policies and procedures as necessaryEnsures staff is informed of and following safety and security policies and proceduresEnsures all schools are compliant with all federal, state, and local building and school code regulationsDevelops and maintains campus cleaning and maintenance schedulesManages the maintenance budget and issues purchase orders as requiredManages contractors and vendors work to ensure quality completionObtains quotes and assists with the bid process when necessaryDevelops long- and short-range building and space utilization plans for the districtsAssists with emergency (drills, AED, etc.), safety and traffic management for the districtsCoordinates emergency on-call rotationMonitors and manages help desk requests using the service data to make improvements `and/or adjustments to services and equipmentCoordinates the delivery and pick-up of campus mail between districts as well as the local post officeManages equipment inventory, and the tracking and purchasing of stock itemsServes as the backup for money pick-up/drop-offCreates and maintains custodian manuals applicable to each site; and performs other duties as assignedQualifications:Experience/Education:High school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related field preferredProject Management experience is a plusDesired Competencies:General knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and general maintenance proceduresGeneral understanding of financial, budget, and inventory managementGeneral knowledge of HV/AC systems and operationsKnowledge of building automation systemsSupervisory, organization, and planning skillsExcellent communication skills, written and verbalBasic computer and software skillsAbility to draft project proposals and timelinesMust have a valid driver's license and good driving record
