Lecturer III-EPS-Geoscience The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full‑time 9‑month Lecturer III beginning August 10, 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses at all levels, develop and lead laboratory and/or field components of the curriculum, teach lectures, labs, and/or field courses, develop and evaluate course materials and learning assessments, provide student mentorship, contribute to departmental service (including departmental committees and university program assessments), and assist in maintaining, improving, and assessing undergraduate learning outcomes, labs, and field instruction. We welcome candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to student success. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. by appointment date with specialization in Geoscience, Geoscience Education, or a related discipline Experience teaching at the university level Preferred Qualifications Evidence of effective teaching Earth and environmental sciences at the university level Demonstrated ability to incorporate innovative teaching methods, including lab/field work, use of computational tools (programming, GIS, remote sensing, etc.) Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific practices, results, and interpretations Demonstrated interest in mentoring undergraduate/graduate students in a teaching environment Demonstrated record of contributions to curriculum development or pedagogical scholarship A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities Application Instructions Only applications submitted through the official UNMJobs site will be accepted.
