Electrical Supervisor

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking an experienced Surface Electrical Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, installation, and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems supporting surface operations.

This position provides direct leadership to instrumentation and electrical technicians and surface electricians. The supervisor will help ensure electrical and instrumentation work is performed safely, effectively, and in accordance with applicable company requirements and technical standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive industrial electrical experience, strong knowledge of electrical distribution and process-control systems, and the ability to lead employees and support continuous process improvements within an active mining environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of instrumentation and electrical technicians and surface electricians.
• Maintain electrical and instrumentation infrastructure supporting surface operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and reliability of electrical power-distribution systems.
• Coordinate and support the installation of new electrical, instrumentation, and process-control equipment.
• Ensure newly purchased and replacement electrical and instrumentation equipment meets established technical and operational standards.
• Review assigned work and verify that installations, repairs, and maintenance activities are completed properly.
• Plan and prioritize preventive, corrective, and emergency electrical maintenance activities.
• Assign work, communicate expectations, and monitor employee and contractor performance.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for electrical, instrumentation, and control-system issues.
• Promote compliance with company safety requirements, electrical procedures, and established work practices.
• Inspect completed work and address deficiencies, recurring issues, or potential reliability concerns.
• Coordinate electrical and instrumentation activities with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other departments.
• Support planned shutdowns, equipment installations, upgrades, and operational projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, and work-related reports.
• Identify and lead opportunities to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and maintenance processes.
• Support employee training, coaching, performance development, and technical growth.
• Perform additional supervisory and technical duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Substantial industrial electrical experience; approximately 10 years of experience is preferred.
• Experience maintaining electrical infrastructure and power-distribution systems.
• Experience with industrial instrumentation and process-control systems.
• Previous leadership, crew-lead, or supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience using RSView and distributed control systems.
• Ability to interpret technical information, troubleshoot complex issues, and make sound operational decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead process-improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple work priorities in an active industrial environment.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical and instrumentation supervisory experience within mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, energy, utilities, or another heavy industrial environment.
• Technical certifications related to electrical, instrumentation, automation, or process-control systems.
• Experience overseeing electrical installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, and system upgrades.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary instrumentation and electrical teams.
• Familiarity with industrial control systems, power distribution, and equipment-reliability practices.

Physical Requirements

The Surface Electrical Supervisor must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Climbing stairs and working at various heights.
• Moving throughout an active industrial facility and accessing operating and maintenance areas.
• Visually distinguishing specific colors, patterns, materials, and electrical indicators.
• Hearing and communicating effectively, with or without correction.
• Using appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the work environment.

Work Environment

This position supports surface operations within an active mining and mineral-processing environment. The Surface Electrical Supervisor may work near operating equipment, electrical systems, elevated work areas, and other conditions associated with industrial operations. Consistent attention to safety, equipment condition, and changing operational priorities is required.
