Unit Information

Department: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU

• Number of Beds: 16
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2 with occasional 1:1
• Common Diagnoses: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, COVID, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, cancer
• Procedures: TPA, balloon pump, recovery of crani, EVDs, lumbar drains

Role Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and deliver quality nursing care.
• Titrate and manage medications including sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin.
• Engage in bedside shift reporting and intentional hourly rounding.
• Utilize equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow systems, and monitor patient telemetry.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Shifts & Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: As needed
• Floating Requirements: Mainly to PCU, may float to other areas depending on skills.

Additional Notes

This is a fast-paced environment that benefits from a remote eICU monitoring system. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn within a culturally diverse community. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with patients from various backgrounds, including those who may not speak English.

Orientation

Two shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided.
