Job Overview An Elementary Teacher at Community Christian Academy will Work within a flexible Elementary school program and provide a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth Establish effective rapport with students Motivate students to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper school education in accordance with each student’s ability Establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Qualifications Must have a faithful testimony of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Must believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living. Must be in support of Community Christian Academy's Statement of Faith (ccacougars.net/statement-of-faith) Show by example the importance of prayer, Scripture memorization and study, witnessing and unity in Christian fellowship. Follows the biblical principles of restoration in dealing with students, administration and staff. Encourages and directs in Christian service activity. Experience working with elementary school students is preferred. Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Responsibilities Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: Teaches reading, language arts, writing/penmanship, social studies, mathematics, science and health to students in a classroom utilizing course of study adopted by the Administration, and other appropriate learning activities. Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports. Communicates with parents through email and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. Assist in selecting books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with IOWA Achievement Test requirements. Participates in maintaining cleanliness/order of classroom, snack/lunch area on the large playground.
