Mental Health Worker

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a mental health worker to join our team of mission-driven healthcare professionals located on our behavioral health unit at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT.

The mental health worker / behavioral health tech is a key role to keep patients engaged in recovery-oriented activities, help to communicate patient's needs to the clinical team, to monitor patient safety and to work with the nursing professionals to create a healing environment for patients.

You will be responsible for:

• Performs patient observations and other patient care activities.
• Observes patient behavior.
• Performs, reports, and documents vital signs, ADLs.
• Responds rapidly to emergency call lights and performs safety checks.
• Provides group and individual interventions to assist the psychiatric patient towards recovery and rehabilitation.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma/equivalent with related experience required. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.
• Certification: AHA CPR/BLS for healthcare providers.
• Experience: Possesses a broad practical understanding of life experiences and the ability to relate to emotionally ill individuals.
• Prior experience in psychiatric/behavioral health setting a plus.
• Ability to prioritize tasks. Maintain confidentiality. Good problem-solving skills.
