Location: Torrance CA and area (float job) Schedule: see below Job code: CVDJP00035273 Pay rate: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience Benefits are available. Availability: Must be available from 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday–Friday. Could start as early as 6 AM or end as late as 6 PM depending on location. Shifts are 8 hours. Float position: Will be floating around LA and OC counties. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Mileage expenses paid. Requires pediatric and geriatric experience. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble‑shooting, training, and making work flow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate. Update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process (or other specimen collection such as urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all physicians’ orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100 % correct. Package specimens for transport. Store specimens according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate containers; accurately label and follow protocol to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where the work will be performed, as required. Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or GED.
