We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist (IP) to join our nursing leadership team.
This position plays an important role in supporting the Director of Nursing, overseeing clinical operations, promoting quality resident care, and leading infection prevention and control initiatives throughout the facility.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist (IP) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) with the overall management and supervision of the nursing department while serving as a key leader in the facility's infection prevention and control program.
The ADON/IP provides clinical leadership, supports nursing staff, monitors quality of care, assists with regulatory compliance, and develops and implements infection prevention practices designed to protect residents, staff, families, and visitors.
ADON ResponsibilitiesAssist the Director of Nursing with the overall management and direction of the nursing department.
Participate in internal audits of nursing practices and assist with developing and implementing plans of correction when deficiencies are identified.
Participate in the facility's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process and related clinical audits.
Assist with ensuring the nursing department operates within established staffing and budget parameters.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and selecting nursing personnel based on facility needs.
Maintain appropriate nursing department staffing levels based on resident needs and facility requirements.
Assist with scheduling nursing staff to ensure adequate coverage and quality resident care.
Maintain and ensure completion of required employee hiring and onboarding documentation.
Participate in orientation and onboarding programs for nursing personnel.
Assist with evaluating the performance and competency of nursing staff.
Participate in the nursing supervisory on-call rotation as needed to provide 24/7 nursing support.
Assist the DON with in-service education and staff development programs.
Ensure nursing assistants complete required training and certification programs.
Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act and applicable regulations.
Conduct nursing rounds to identify resident needs, monitor care, and ensure appropriate interventions are implemented.
Assess the clinical and technical skills of nursing personnel and identify areas requiring additional education or support.
Assist with the resident care planning process.
Assist in developing daily resident care assignments that meet resident and facility needs.
Monitor resident incidents and identify trends or concerns requiring intervention.
Promote a safe, sanitary, and supportive environment for residents, staff, families, and visitors.
Assist the DON with regulatory compliance and preparation for surveys and inspections.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with residents, families, employees, physicians, and other departments.
Lead and oversee the facility's infection prevention and control program in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Develop, implement, monitor, and update infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
Conduct ongoing infection surveillance and identify trends, clusters, and potential outbreaks.
Investigate suspected or confirmed infections and implement appropriate interventions.
Monitor infection rates and prepare reports for facility leadership and applicable committees.
Participate in the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process related to infection prevention.
Conduct routine infection prevention audits throughout the facility.
Monitor hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, environmental cleaning, and other infection prevention practices.
Ensure nursing staff and other employees follow appropriate infection prevention and control procedures.
Provide infection prevention education and training to employees during orientation and ongoing in-services.
Educate residents and families regarding infection prevention practices when appropriate.
Assist with outbreak investigations and implementation of appropriate containment measures.
Monitor compliance with applicable infection prevention regulations and guidelines.
Maintain accurate infection prevention records, reports, surveillance data, and documentation.
Collaborate with nursing, dietary, environmental services, rehabilitation, and other departments to promote facility-wide infection prevention.
Participate in infection prevention committee meetings and assist with developing action plans when concerns are identified.
Assist with antibiotic stewardship initiatives and monitoring as required.
Monitor employee and resident health concerns related to communicable diseases and follow applicable reporting requirements.
Assist with ensuring appropriate vaccination and immunization practices are followed.
Review infection prevention practices and make recommendations for improvement.
Serve as a clinical resource to staff regarding infection prevention and control questions and concerns.
Must be a currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
Must maintain an active RN license in good standing throughout employment.
Previous nursing leadership, supervisory, infection prevention, or skilled nursing experience preferred.
Experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting preferred.
Strong clinical knowledge and leadership skills.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and applicable state and federal regulations.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead, educate, and motivate nursing staff.
Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, employees, and other departments.
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze clinical data and identify trends.
Ability to implement and interpret facility programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate resident care.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive resident and employee information appropriately.
