divh2RNFA Job Post/h2pThe RNFA works in collaboration with surgeons and health care team members to facilitate optimal outcomes for patients undergoing surgical procedure. Registered Nurses practicing as first assistants in surgery are functioning in an expanded perioperative nursing role. Reports to department management./ph3Essential Duties And Responsibilities/h3ulliProvides developmentally appropriate patient care using the nursing process under the direct supervision of the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill and critical thinking necessary to assist in performing a safe operation./liliDevelops an individualized nursing plan of care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice and AORN standards./liliCommunicates with other members of the healthcare team to assure critical information is relayed throughout the perioperative period./liliPerforms other duties as assigned./li/ulh3Licenses And/Or Certifications/h3ulliCurrent Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license./liliCNOR certification required./li/ulh3Minimum Education And Experience Requirements/h3ulliBachelors Degree required or must be actively enrolled in a Bachelors program with graduation within three years. BSN preferred./liliGraduate of an RNFA program accepted by the Certification Board Perioperative Nursing./liliThree years of experience in perioperative nursing./liliOne year of experience in cardiothoracic operative nursing preferred./liliPediatric experience preferred./liliCPR PALS certification required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire./liliRN certification preferred./li/ulh3Working Conditions/h3ulliExpected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures.
