Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary

A Human Resources Specialist is needed for a full-time contract opportunity in Union City, CA within an education-focused office environment. This on-site role supports the daily HR operations of the administration department and works closely with leadership to promote a productive, compliant, and employee-centered workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee retention support, offboarding, and employee documentation.
- Partner with hiring managers to coordinate recruiting activities, prepare offer letters, conduct orientations, and ensure a smooth new hire experience.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, COBRA coordination, and employee benefit communications.
- Maintain accurate HR records, employee files, job descriptions, salary structures, leave documentation, and compliance-related records.
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Support workers' compensation, safety programs, injury reporting, training coordination, performance evaluations, and employee separation processes.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary Range: $62,400 to $72,480 per year.
- Job Type: Full-Time, Contract.
- Work Setting: On-site office role in Union City, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR documentation.
- Support managers with performance management, policy guidance, workplace issues, and employee development initiatives.
- Track leaves of absence, workers' compensation claims, safety processes, and HR compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR files, salary structures, job descriptions, and related documentation.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience, with 3 to 5 years preferred based on the experience level of the role.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws, federal employment regulations, wage and hour requirements, and HR best practices.
- Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR policy implementation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a positive, flexible approach.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- Bilingual skills.
- Experience supporting performance management programs and employee development initiatives.
- Prior HR experience in an education, nonprofit, public sector, or mission-driven environment.
