Position Highlights The manager will provide leadership oversight for Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (IRF) auditors and intake coordinators, ensuring program compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Work location: Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital – Dallas, TX Work hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM Key Responsibilities Operations Participate in the establishment of policies and procedures for all IRF services. Work with IRF Leadership to prepare and revise Program policies and procedures and implement the inpatient rehabilitation strategic plan. Assist in designing and implementing a framework to coordinate patient care services and program development. Encourage integration of rehabilitation services throughout the hospital and community, collaborating across disciplines to maintain continuity of care. Provide direction, expertise, and mentoring to facilitate growth and development of IRF services. Integrate all aspects of program development, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Admissions, Nursing, Social Work, and Case Management. Ensure proper notification and documentation of patient transfers within or outside the facility in coordination with the social worker/case manager. Recommend and implement educational efforts for IRF staff, including orientation and in‑services as needed. Collaborate with IRF leadership on strategic planning activities for the service line, achieving THD Inpatient Rehabilitation Service line goals. Regulatory Compliance Direct, plan, and organize the program to comply with CMS, The Joint Commission, Texas Department of Health and Human Services, and CARF regulatory standards. Ensure documentation is complete and maintained per regulations. Complete transmission of IRF‑PAI data to CMS and other agencies. Maintain timely documentation of the IRF‑PAI in patient records. Conduct random chart reviews to ensure timely completion of admission assessments and necessary documentation. Orient and train staff involved in completing the IRF‑PAI. Educate clinicians on regulatory documentation and updates from UDS, CMS, or other agencies. Support the Inpatient Rehabilitation department with CARF and Joint Commission requirements. Quality and Performance Improvement Participate in program evaluation, quality assessment, and improvement processes. Assist with quality improvement activities to reduce cost and increase efficiency through improved systems and processes. Serve as liaison for the IRF in coordinating and presenting data to outside quality improvement groups. Collect, coordinate, and evaluate clinical information, coding it accurately in the computer system. Review medical records to ensure appropriate documentation supports the IRF‑PAI findings. Monitor, trend, and analyze admission, discharge, and transfer rates. Fiscal Operations Operationally responsible for the financial performance, including operating and capital budgeting for assigned areas. Promote activities to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and achieve operational efficiency. Manage the approved budget through frequent monitoring. Implement action plans to address variances and adjust strategies to meet budget expectations. Consider operational outcomes and financial implications when recommending new services or modifying existing programs. Manage staffing levels consistent with volumes. Oversee and contribute to PPS billing and IRF‑PAI processes, ensuring coordination of services and management of budgets and marketing functions. Facilitate and coordinate the PPS (Prospective Payment System) with the interdisciplinary team. Human Resource Management Recruit and retain a quality workforce. Provide a work environment that attracts and retains workforce members. Ensure orientation, continuing education, and competency verification for all workforce members. Meet Human Resource metrics such as retention and vacancy rates. Promote a diverse, highly engaged, and collaborative work environment. Use workforce metrics to monitor, identify, and respond to workforce trends. Employ strategic human resources management and motivate others to achieve excellence in patient care, quality, safety, service, and stewardship. Conduct regular meetings and inform the team of policy or procedure changes. Mentor, coach, and support direct reports and front‑line team in building teamwork, staff development, and education. Ensure employee engagement survey participation rates and results meet goals. Maintain required licensures, certifications, and registry in good standing. Maintain compliance with hospital and system policies. Monitor and manage performance using the disciplinary process as appropriate. Professional Accountability Participate in hospital initiatives as appropriate. Adhere to hospital and system policies. Complete mandatory training and annual employee health screening timely. Maintain a safe work environment. Communicate ethical and legal concerns through established channels. Maintain professional growth and current knowledge through education and literature. Demonstrate accountability by completing projects on time and providing timely responses to information requests. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Perform other related work as requested. Education Bachelor’s Degree in a Rehab discipline (PT, OT, or SLP) required. Or Bachelor’s Degree Nursing required. Experience 3 years clinically related experience required. 2 years previous experience with inpatient rehab program administration in an acute care setting required. Progressive leadership experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications (Required upon hire) PT – Physical Therapist OT – Occupational Therapist SLP – Speech Language Pathology RN – Registered Nurse Skills Demonstrated verbal and written ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to influence and coach for results. Exceptional organizational and project management skills. Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills.
