Assistant Learning Skills Coordinator

RATE: Full-Time 10-Month position

IMPORTANT NOTE - This position is funded through external grant funding. Continued employment will be contingent upon the availability of grant funds, program continuation, and institutional need.

The Assistant Learning Skills Coordinator will assist the Learning Skills Coordinator in providing academic support services to students at Clinton Community College, with a primary focus on serving adult students between the ages of 25 and 55. In this capacity, the Assistant Learning Skills Coordinator will contribute to college-wide student success and retention initiatives designed to strengthen academic achievement and persistence.

This is a professional 10-month position with some evening and weekend hours required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in one or more of the following areas: English, Reading, Mathematics, Science, or Computer Science.
2. At least one year of tutoring or teaching experience at the collegiate level with demonstrated ability to help students master academic skills in the area of their expertise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

1. Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and planning skills.
2. Ability to collaborate with various campus constituencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide up to 30 hours of direct tutorial academic assistance to students.
2. Provide training and technical support to tutors.
3. Assist faculty in Reconnect affiliated programs by pushing into the classrooms to provide support in the class or lab.
4. Support the administration of tutoring center-based initiatives and programs (STRONG, StAR, and Reconnect)
5. Visit remedial classes at the beginning of each semester, focusing on classes with Reconnect eligible enrollments, to share information on tutoring services and the STRONG program.
6. Administer, tally, and report feedback from students who have received assistance in the tutoring center.
7. Administer placement tests as needed.
8. Assist Accommodative Services as a proctor when needed.
9. Perform other related professional duties as assigned by the Learning Skills Coordinator.
