INTERMEDIATE TYPIST-CLERK/CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

Position Summary The Intermediate Typist Clerk position within the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) involves skilled typing and specialized clerical responsibilities to support onsite managers, supervisors, and units. The role requires strong typing speed, accuracy, and initiative in handling clerical duties. Key Responsibilities Provide clerical support to onsite Managers/Supervisors/Unit. Input and track schedules and data. Assist in the coordination of clinic scheduling. Assist in tracking provider compliance deadlines. Assist with supply tracking, inventory, ordering, and record keeping. Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding process. Check voicemail, facsimiles and receive delivery shipments. Assist in maintaining SharePoint, Access, and Excel databases. Process documents according to a predetermined specialized procedure for recording and indexing. Take meeting notes and generate summaries. Search records/files to obtain abstract material as assigned. Check documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal and other requirements. Maintain clerical controls where work is divided among personnel performing separate parts of an entire operation. Maintain and update departmental records and documents. Use office equipment such as video display terminals, word processors, or personal computers to input data, perform computations, or produce documents not requiring formatting or programming. Type documents/gather information to produce reports requiring accuracy or independent judgment. Scan, maintain and record confidential documents/files. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Option 1: Six (6) months of office clerical experience involving typewriting in the County service. Option 2: One (1) year of office clerical experience involving typewriting outside the County service. Option 3: A certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college. Documentation of the degree or certificate must be provided at the time of filing. Typewriting Skill Requirement Ability to type at the rate of 40 net words per minute. License and Physical Requirements A valid California Class "C" Driver's License or an alternative method of transportation. Physical Class II – Light: Administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort, including occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, or squatting, and considerable ambulation.
